Representing Students

Learners For Justice is a Non-Profit based in Joliet Illinois which was founded in November of 2014 by Oscar Cuevas and co-founder Abraham Mwaura. The organization consists of a public Relations Manager, Community Organizer, Student Advocates, writers, and many volunteers. Learners For Justice assists students and their parents regarding problems in their schools or district. At the moment the organization represents students In Joliet and sometimes neighboring cities. One of the organizations main focuses is bullying in schools but is always welcoming to any case representation requests.

Students and Families are encouraged to address Learners For Justice in any case where they feel that their school or district has problems that violate their rights as a student. Submitted cases are analyzed carefully by selected LFJ members who will offer guidance. LFJ will also represent cases in which students or families would like an individual meeting with administration.

The guidance and tools given to the District are based on student, parent, and community input, we will recommend strong policies and reinforcements of current programs as well as new additions. To ensure our guidance is effective we are working with strong passionate education advocates in our community who specialize in Anti-Bullying and Restorative Justice to ensure the problems and solutions are very well analyzed and addressed with professional care. We ask that students and parents submit reports to us of anything they feel is questionable. Such can include but is not limited to; staffs behavior, fights, bullying, staffs failure to document incidents, violation of rights, etc. Report as much as you'd like as that helps us ensure your school is following set district and state procedures.

Questions? feel free to email us at Support@LearnersForJustice.org

Learners For Justice was created on the premise that every individual deserves the right to be heard; the truth behind the bullying epidemic lies within the students who have never had the opportunity to stand and have a strong voice. Many students, parents, and community members have spoke out about Joliet District 86's troubled Jr. High Schools, but more importanly the districts current administrational system when handling complaints. Students regular complaint is staffs failure to appropriatley handle and document incidents, leaving students hopeless and not willing to report. Without addressing these individuals, they lose hope and simply separate themselves from their peers. How can a student reach their full potential when a third of their day is spent trying to avoid those who hurt them, while the rest of the day is spent dreading the fact that tomorrow will be the same thing. With the support of District 86 and its students, Learners For Justice will work towards providing the District with guidance to keeping a healthy environment for everyone.
